I see the light

Wish I could make the background a bit darker so that the lanterns pop more, but meh. I’m happy with it. : ) I’m sure you’re aware that this is inspired by Tangled. : P Hey, I warned you from the get-go that there would be lots of Disney!

I’ve always wanted to see floating lanterns. They just look so beautiful! How bout you?

Insanity Wolf, Anyone?

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I can kind of see the resemblance.

I feel like this should have a mature warning because of the blood. 😐

So, maybe it doesn’t look like the Insanity Wolf. A girl can dream, right? (In retrospect, maybe my dream shouldn’t be that something I draw is associated with that meme…)

Sheesh, calm down, man.

Tell me, does my drawing look anything like this dude?

Sorry for all the (unrealistic) blood, guys!

“Most everyone’s mad here.”

“You may have noticed that I’m not all there myself.”

What a mad cat indeed! I’ve always been very fond of the Cheshire Cat, and when I was little and would sit and watch Disney movies (such as Alice in Wonderland) that crazy, disappearing cat was always my favorite. Of course, the way I have drawn him may not make children feel all warm and fuzzy… I dunno – my friends seemed to think this cat was rather creepy. (Not as creepy at Katz from the terrifying show, Courage the Cowardly Dog, mind you. That cat was positively evil!)

Can someone say "Creeper"?

But, anyway, I digress. Even though there wasn’t even a real subject in the first place… Well, hell.

“Sometimes I see your face…”

the stars seems to lose their place.”Tears, a wonderful and happy subject, no? I kid, I kid. I didn’t know what I was going to do for this one for a little while, but then I flipped through some songs on my iPod and decided on one that I think fit. : ) The chick’s forehead is a bit awkward, but meh. (I like to think no one would’ve noticed, had I not said anything.)

What do you think of when the word “tears” comes to mind? My thoughts jump straight to sadness, but that’s a bit clichéd, isn’t it? There are tears of happiness, after all.

Of Brother-in-laws and Surprises

I’m going to take a break from the challenge today, because I feel that I must show the world the amazing talent of my brother-in-law.

A few weeks ago, my sister and brother-in-law came to town to visit and, being the wonderful little sister that I am, let them sleep in my room. Before they left, my sister informed me that there was a surprise that was left for me. At first, I was quite confused, but after they left I found what she meant. When I went to make my bed the day following their departure, I found this piece of pure brilliance drawn on the wall next to my bed.

Don’t mind the chalk mark circles, they pale in comparison to this masterpiece. I could not believe that I was related, albeit by marriage, to someone with such indescribable talent as my brother-in-law.

I mean, look at the detail of the fur! And the bear’s eyes hold such knowledge. As if he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, but he continues to smile through it.

I imagine that the bear and pig are two characters that are very well known, but I am unaware as the what the third character is between them. A lizard of some sort, perhaps? A heffalump or woozle? Whatever it may be, I know that my brother-in-law has such great imagination and talent for creating this piece. I don’t plan to take it down anytime soon, that’s for certain. Perhaps someday it will be worth something, when my dear brother is a famous artist! We shall have to see, won’t we?

Song of ze Day: Wouldn’t It Be Loverly by Julie Andrews

“They paved paradise…

and put up a parking lot.”

Last year, I drew a scene similar to this many times. A big, beautiful tree in the midst of towering buildings. It was always while I listened to “Big Yellow Taxi” by Joni Mitchell, and I feel that it fell into the theme for “beautiful” quite well, don’t you?

The quote says “Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’re got till it’s gone?”

What’s your definition of beautiful? Is it a person? A trait?

Come fly with me!

I probably listened to Sinatra the entire time I did this. Which is by no means a bad thing, in my book. I feel that this turned out differently in my head, but I can’t say that I’m too disappointed with it. Sure, there are flaws, but I’m pretty pleased with it. : ) I tried to make it look like there was a plane flying in the background, but it just turned into this black fish/bird blob… thing. And the clouds didn’t work out too well, but WHATEVER. I’ll deal with it.

Paper Airplanes.

I had no idea what to do for this one. Then in math class, I asked the guy sitting next to me to make a paper airplane so that I could draw it. He seemed less than enthusiastic, but make one nonetheless. So, this paper airplane was born! It had unusual yellow highlights. Don’t worry about it.

Please tell me that you know what this is from. Please. I’m not going to give anything away as to what this is from, because I want to see how many people actually know what it’s from.

A make-believe cookie to anyone who can guess! (Cuz who could pass up that sweet deal?)

Even the prettiest of flowers wear with time.

Now, I know that this is quite a jump between numbers, and for that I apologize. But I’m gonna be jumping around little bit. Now, this is #7, Flowers. At first, I wanted to do a picture of those flowers that you close into books for a really long time and then they’re all flattened out, but I settled on wilting/dead flowers. I accidentally spilled a drink on this page, so it’s a bit awkward next to the rose. (Darn Snapple. They can give you all the facts in the world, but they can’t keep their freaking drinks from spilling everywhere.) This isn’t my favorite picture in the world (mainly because I used some crappy pens to color in in with.), but it’s alright. Right?

So tell me, guys. What’s your favorite type of flower?
